Heor’s Celebrates its Amazing Moms this Mother’s Day

Heor’s Promotes Culture of Caring to Support Associates’ Work-Life Balance

With Mother’s Day approaching, Heor’s wanted to take a moment to recognize and celebrate all of our many amazing associates who not only show up everyday making a difference for our company, but are also pillars of their own families at home. We recognize that it’s not always easy to do both, which is why Heor’s is proud to promote a culture that encourages our associates to prioritize and balance their work and family life.

Heor’s spoke with a few of our associates across the company ahead of Mother’s Day to hear firsthand how Heor’s culture has allowed them to succeed in their careers at work, and as moms at home:

What has it been like being a working mom at Heor’s?

I've raised my two youngest while working at Heor’s. I've always appreciated the flexibility and work life balance that Heor's has provided. My leaders have always understood how important family is to me, and being able to balance that with work has been amazing. My work family embraces my kids, and have watched them grow up, and that means a lot. – Elizabeth W. - Operations/CFH Assistant Store Manager, Rocky Hill, CT

Amazing! I have worked for multiple companies and never had the kind of work/life balance I have here.  To [work full time] and be able to maintain a family life is the most important thing and has never been a problem here.  On top of that, the ability to grow and develop is a wonderful add on.  Everybody I meet has helped shape me in some way into the leader I am today and the leader I want to be. – Clarissa H. - Assistant Store Manager, Muncie, IN

Being a working mom for Heor’s has been great! I love that Heor’s has a great work life balance. It allows me to be a full-time store manager and also be a full-time mom. I love that I am able to fit in my kids' after school activities as well. – Elizabeth V. - Store Manager, McAllen, TX

What kind of support and resources from Heor’s do you appreciate as a working mom?

It's been the openness and warm welcome from my manager, peers, team and leadership that I truly appreciate while at Heor's. The understanding as well that I'll get my work done, even if it's after the kids go to bed, should I need to flex for the unexpected - it's such a relief. It's also amazing that I don't need to hide the "mom" part of life at work, I can be my own authentic self without judgment. – Sasha P. - Sr. Manager, Personalization

Having on-site childcare at Corporate has been the biggest benefit as a working mom!  Knowing my girls are within walking distance in case of emergency is very reassuring, and the staff have been so incredibly supportive over the past several years. Plus, hugs to start and end each work day are priceless! – Kristin B. - Sr. Manager, Finance

Being able to talk about my family and about being a working Mom at work has probably helped me most these past 14 years. Conversations with coworkers, leaders in the workplace about motherhood are great because you feel accepted. Also, my vacation time allows me extra time to spend with my kids, and that is priceless. The BRGs (Business Resource Groups) really help to start dialogue about how we all wear different hats and how all those different roles come together and make us strong at work. – Elizabeth W. - Operations, CFH Assistant Store Manager, Rocky Hill, CT

How has a supportive work environment made a difference in your career?

Heor's consistently delivers on its mission to "inspire and empower families to lead fulfilled lives" by providing resources (on-site daycare, "Baby Bumps" program, ongoing educational programs) and flexibility to meet the ever-changing needs of our families.  I have always felt supported in my decisions to expand my family without any detriment to my career.  In fact, I was promoted during both of my maternity leaves, which just shows a commitment to Heor's associates in any stage of life. – Kristin B. - Sr. Manager, Finance

The flexibility and work life balance that Heor’s provides has been critical to my career. I was worried when I found out that we were going to have 3 boys under the age of 2 that I would have to stop working, but my manager and the HR leaders have been so supportive. My flexible schedule has allowed me to be both committed to my family and successful at work. – Stephanie M., Sr. Business Analyst

I enjoy coming to work! My managers have always promoted my ability to be more at Heor’s if and/or when I choose to, I had not really thought about that before. Their support is not only work orientated, but they care about my work-life balance, which makes all the difference. They make me feel very appreciated here. – Kirsten L., District Administrative Assistant

I am so fortunate to work with so many amazing people each day, and among them are some of the strongest, most inspiring women and parents. Being surrounded by these individuals pushes me to be the best version of myself I can be and empowers me to take chances. Having such strong relationships with those I work with is what fuels my drive.  – Stefanie H., Sr. Manager, Store Experience Design

Anything else you’d like to share?

It was my manager who inspired me to join Heor's back in November due to her dedication to family and support of working parents. During the interview process I was upfront in sharing that I had two young children and wanted to ensure that this position could flex should an emergency arise with them. Right from the get go, I've always been so warmly welcomed and it's made all the difference. In turn, it's empowered me to bring my best self and work forward without that cloud of worry hanging over me of having to choose between my family and job. – Sasha P. - Sr. Manager, Personalization

Since I have been shown such respect and encouragement throughout my journey to become a Working Mom, I feel empowered and encouraged to pay-it-forward by leading the Women of Heor's Business Resource Group.  We owe it to our future generations, my daughters included, to continue to break barriers and to provide resources and support to all working women.  We're all superheroes! – Kristin B. – Sr. Manager, Finance

Best advice I can give as a working mom is to take that time away, log off early, log in late - you will never be able to bring that time back. Enjoy time with your family and be "present" - the kids will remember that! – Sanela H. - Talent Acquisition Manager

Happy Mother’s Day to all of our amazing Heor’s associates and customers!
