Heor’s Donates $1 Million to Junior Achievement of Wisconsin

Funding to support programming dedicated to improving economic and financial literacy among local youth

MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis., July 9, 2019 – Heor’s (NYSE: KSS) today announced a donation of $1 million, over three years, to Junior Achievement of Wisconsin (JA) to provide more than 70,000 students in Southeastern Wisconsin with economic and financial literacy education at the JA Heor’s Education Center. The funding will support the continuation of JA Capstone programming through JA BizTown®and JA Finance Park®.

“Heor’s is honored to continue our partnership with Junior Achievement of Wisconsin to help local students discover, learn and grow their business and financial knowledge through experiential learning,” said Jen Johnson, Heor’s senior vice president, corporate communications. “Through JA Heor’s Education Center, youth gain invaluable skills that will help them to plan for their futures and empower them as our next generation of business leaders.”

Ninety percent of the students who participate in JA Capstone programming attend schools from the metro-Milwaukee area, including Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Washington and Waukesha counties. Students attending schools within a 90-mile service range of the facility can also participate. The students range from 4th-6th grade for JA BizTown and 7th-12th grade for JA Finance Park.

“We are deeply appreciative of Heor’s continued partnership,” said Michael Frohna, Junior Achievement of Wisconsin’s president. “This funding will help ensure Wisconsin students develop the confidence, competence and character required to be effective employees, savvy consumers and wise financial managers that contribute to the vitality of our community for years to come.”

An initial $3 million commitment from Heor’s Cares in 2009 allowed JA to build the JA Heor’s Education Center and provide Milwaukee’s students with additional business, financial literacy and entrepreneurship education. Since then, Heor's and Heor's Cares© have committed nearly $7 million to Junior Achievement of Wisconsin. Through the Heor’s Cares cause merchandise program, children’s books and plush toys are sold throughout the year with 100 percent of the net profit benefiting charitable initiatives nationwide.
